Collection of objects

As of June 1, 1998, the collection contained 2149 registered items. Most of these items are production equipment, samples of the goods and advertising material in connection with the canning industry.

Company files

The files contain documents from, or in connection with, the canning industry. Most of these items have bee acquired from companies in Stavanger. The most significant of these are the company files from the canning factories Norrig AS, Chr. Bjelland & Co AS, Holmens Preserving Co AS, Stavanger Packing Co AS, and Johs Mæland AS Ltd.

Photography file

The photo files contain 632 registered photos and consists mainly of black and white photos of the canning industry and its peripheral industries. The photo collection covers the period from the turn of the century and up to the present.

Label (Iddis) file

This file contains 30 429 registered labels. Most of them are packaging labels used within the canning industry. There was a great variety of labels, which also functioned as small advertising posters.

Patent file

The patent file contains 466 registrations with descriptions of the different patents relating to the canning industry.

Newspaper file

The newspaper file contains 1407 registrations and consists of newspaper articles relating to the various situations within the canning industry.
