Collections
The most significant parts of the department’s scientific collections are first and foremost beetles, collected by the Curator Tor Helliesen; then the Chief Curator, Holger Holgersen’s collection of ants and cicadas and two significant gifts for the butterfly section from Dr. Arne Nilsen and Dr. Einar Fugelli.
The scientific bird skin collection has been put together mainly by the department’s own employees, especially Hans Tho. L. Schaanning and Anders Bernhoft-Osa. The collection consists of both purchased material and birds received by exchanges.
